You may be able to enrol on a course for free if you meet the following criteria:
- fulfil the residency eligibility requirements set out by the Department for Education (DfE). This means you must have the right to live and study in the UK.
- be resident in Brighton and Hove – check here: Find your local council
- be 19 years old or over at the start of the academic year
- be unemployed and receiving a means-tested state benefit, or be employed and earn less than £26,800 gross annual salary
- learners must remain in England throughout their learning. Providers will not have the discretion to continue funding where a learner is outside the country, including in temporary or emergency circumstances, as referenced here: Adult Skills Fund funding rules 2026 – 2027
