This course explores practical ways to develop a child’s self-confidence so that challenges don’t overwhelm them.

For parents or carers of primary age children.

Course content:

The course considers how to develop a positive mindset in young people. It suggests ways parents/carers can build a young person’s capability by nurturing confidence and self-belief.

Course outcomes/objectives

  • Suggests building a ‘tool-kit’ of methods to boost resilience.

  • Challenges ways of thinking that lead to negative self-talk.

  • Considers the importance of expectations of young people being a good fit for them.

  • Suggests ways to help young people navigate uncertainty and change.

  • Guidance on helping young people make sense of their feelings and expressing them in ways that are healthy.
